New Design 3D printing aluminum powder
Advantages:
At present, in the field of aluminum alloy 3D printing, the available materials are very limited. The mainstream materials may be AlSi10Mg, AlSi7Mg and some aluminum-silicon alloy materials. However, high-strength alloy materials are rarely used. In recent years, the call for high-strength aluminum has been very high, whether in aerospace or other high value-added fields.
Aluminum alloy 3D printing powder has become a mainstream material for metal 3D printing, but the available material system or type is very limited, mainly concentrated in AlSi10Mg material, and AlSi7Mg has a small amount. Traditional deformation series aluminum alloy materials (such as 2024, 6061, 7075, etc.) cannot be directly used in the field of 3D printing, resulting in a very limited variety of aluminum alloy materials. Some applications such as aerospace that require high strength are very much looking forward to having a high-strength material.
Aluminum, the special advantage is that it is relatively light, has good corrosion resistance, and does not require some surface coatings, etc. In the field of 3D printing, AlSi10Mg is mainly available, and its strength is very limited. EOS-AlSi10Mg technical specification book T6 treatment state, the yield strength is only 250 MPa.
Aluminum alloys such as 7075, which are commonly used in the aerospace field, have a yield strength standard of more than 480 MPa and an elongation of 7%. Therefore, the traditional AlSi10Mg material cannot meet high-strength applications. In this context, we need to develop high-strength aluminum alloys.
After 3D printing, the material's yield is ≥450 MPa and the elongation is ≥6%, which we call high-strength aluminum. High-strength aluminum is compared with some traditional hard aluminum grades, such as 7075, and the material performance yield of 7075 is above 480 MPa. 3D printing technology also requires materials similar to 7075. The yield strength of most high-strength aluminum printed is basically above 480 MPa, but the strength of AlSi10Mg and AlSi7Mg materials after annealing is only more than 200 MPa. The strength of high-strength aluminum printed is more than twice that of AlSi10Mg.
